Merry Christmas to Peter Wilson. When it was suggested that Peter Wilson should be independent of the old board so that we can have a fresh start Peter responded with "That's your issue". Summary of the meeting here: viewtopic.php?f=23&t=594

Re: CPA Membership Fees

Ladies &Gents, I'm over it. I wrote CPA Australia a strongly worded letter asking them to give me one good reason to stay, given how events have turned out. No answer. Given the CAANZ offer, which I accepted, I am voting with my feet and not renewing my membership as of 1 Jan 18. To note, the CAANZ ...

Re: Independent Review Update

Could someone post their Independent review submission? I'd like to ensure we are all on the same page when we make a submission and I don't want to miss any pertinent points that CPA can be improving.

Re: What sort of organisation should Australia CPA be?

I am a member of the English CA (ICAEW) as well as a CPA, I feel that other member organisations empower their local committees more than the CPA. One thing that the ICAEW does well that the CPA does not, is that they provide a proportion of their member fees to the local committee (e.g. Sydney City...

Re: A Path For CPA Renewal - s249D Call for Members meeting and next steps

Ref the discussion on Divisional Presidents, I agree with those that have said that they have stood by and done nothing while the organisation has been brought to its knees. Therefore, I do not agree with their elevation to directors. As a suggestion, I would like to have a mix of eminent persons, a...

Another prediction - Malley will use members' money to fight this in court.

Re: Lets meet our directors, and hold them to account individually

If I look at the remaining directors of CPA Australia, do any of them have a full time job? The only one that I can see who works full time is Petty. What about the others? Perhaps the CPA directors' fee is their main source of income... Petty - OK, he is an accounting professor at Mac Uni. Also for...

Re: Unintended consequences of media coverage

I am in the majority of those on this site who have voiced their opinion that there are plenty of issues with the CPA organisation. However, I appreciate the perspective that both have provided, as this allows us to understand how many other members may be feeling about the current issues. Therefore...

Re: Is the appointment of the new Director valid?

How do we proceed to challenge this?
Surely we can now seek help from ASIC & the Courts?

We must act swiftly before more damage is done!!

Frankly speaking, if Houston and McPhee had given this a second thought, they would step back from these appointments now. I would if I were them. I think it is a big mistake.

Re: Is the appointment of the new Director valid?

If we read the statement of Jim Dickson on the 16th, he does not himself think there is an emergency. "Nothing to see here" is basically what he said. But then I'm not sure why if there is nothing to see here, they would then launch a "fiercely independent" inquiry... Given Dickson expressed complet...
