Merry Christmas to Peter Wilson. When it was suggested that Peter Wilson should be independent of the old board so that we can have a fresh start Peter responded with "That's your issue". Summary of the meeting here: viewtopic.php?f=23&t=594

Re: Greater Transparency on International Travel at CPA

I have given due consideration whether going on the record is worth it or not...i am.not renewing. my subscription has gone to world vision. Anyhow ms bowens comment about never disparaging a member can not go unchallenged. I had documented issues my discussion group had with cpa before bretts publ...

Re: Four Special Resolutions to review and sign for AGM

Not trying to be unhelpful. I'm wanting for this to be constructive feedback. Just saying there are 2 opportunities for the board to influence the make up of the Nominations Committee here and they only need to get 2 out of the 4 as friendlies and they control the Nominations Committee. From there i...

Re: Four Special Resolutions to review and sign for AGM

I'd like to get some evidence of how those procedures worked in practice. It's in the constitution as an election. If people are saying it's fixed because it will be described in the constitution as an election then I say that's misguided as the current process is described as such. Under Brett's pr...

Re: Four Special Resolutions to review and sign for AGM

the rep council is not elected by Members directly. There is a call for nominations from the divisional councillors for someone to be on the rep council, then a “friendly” (at least in my eyes) was preselected by HQ, that name was put to us at our monthly council meeting for ratification which, bei...

Re: Four Special Resolutions to review and sign for AGM

adjective: direct without intervening factors or intermediaries. So how is voting for people who vote for other people who nominate 4 to a committee of 6 (the 2 others appointed by this or the prior process) and the committee select 3 out of possibly 100 and then a final vote, direct? Very gerrymand...

Re: Four Special Resolutions to review and sign for AGM

Thats where the eminent and well connected just love to maintain control. Well anything that provides the members with the direct vote is better than what we have and is being proposed by the IRP and new board. You're not proposing a direct vote. I am firmly opposed to the notion of members not bei...

What CPA Australia thinks they exist for

What CPA Australia thinks they exist for and what you think they exist for are 2 completely different things. Refer to the attached slides from a presentation to Discussion Group leaders.

Re: Four Special Resolutions to review and sign for AGM

Hi Brett, I'm concerned that this method of voting for Directors may not actually give us much control. Basically the people nominated by the Divisions have control by having 4 of the 6 positions on the Nominations/Selections committee. The Directors have some influence with 2 on there. I know we vo...

Re: Promoting Alex Malley, instead of CPA as an organisation

Firstly thank you Brett for speaking up and saying what we all have been thinking for a very long time. I too was at HQ about a month ago and was told that CPA had taken over the lease of the Coffee shop located in the foyer at Freshwater Place. Apparently staff get a 20% discount?? A competition w...

What is the counter to the inevitable "but CPAA is a much larger organisation than CAANZ and IPA"?
It's not much larger than CAANZ and I suggest not engaging with idiots.

Maybe ask him for his thoughts on how to interpret s202B and then how they got it wrong by over $1.2 million.
And it's still not right.

Interestingly, Malley blocked me on Twitter when I pointed out his support for the LNP's position on Negative Gearing and CGT concessions was not in the interest of many of our younger members - it was that action that sparked my curiosity and led me here!!!!! I think he blocked all negative feedba...

Re: Suggestion: Objects

I don't think that CPAA should taking a political position on any of this. E.g. There will be CPAs for negative gearing and against it. It's not CPAA's role to be pushing a political agenda. Incorrectly claiming that the majority of CPAs support a position when they cannot even get more than about 3...

Re: Suggesion: amend the constitution to restore ability for any 100 voting members to initiate a member meeting

Surely this resolution has to get up. It's a no brainer. I cannot see any valid reason to oppose it and the real question is why the IRP would not have recommended it. #whitewash!

Re: CPA Membership Fees

You may think that going to ICAANZ will mean a positive change, but ICAANZ has its own hidden problems. The current accounting system, the current check and balances to the membership, and the current audit system is no different at ICAANZ. They just do a better job, in the hiding the skelton's. At...
