Re: Promoting Alex Malley, instead of CPA as an organisation

Firstly thank you Brett for speaking up and saying what we all have been thinking for a very long time. I too was at HQ about a month ago and was told that CPA had taken over the lease of the Coffee shop located in the foyer at Freshwater Place. Apparently staff get a 20% discount?? A competition w...

What is the counter to the inevitable "but CPAA is a much larger organisation than CAANZ and IPA"?
It's not much larger than CAANZ and I suggest not engaging with idiots.

Maybe ask him for his thoughts on how to interpret s202B and then how they got it wrong by over $1.2 million.
And it's still not right.

Re: Suggestion: Objects

Interestingly, Malley blocked me on Twitter when I pointed out his support for the LNP's position on Negative Gearing and CGT concessions was not in the interest of many of our younger members - it was that action that sparked my curiosity and led me here!!!!! I think he blocked all negative feedba...

Re: Suggestion: Objects

I don't think that CPAA should taking a political position on any of this. E.g. There will be CPAs for negative gearing and against it. It's not CPAA's role to be pushing a political agenda. Incorrectly claiming that the majority of CPAs support a position when they cannot even get more than about 3...

Re: Suggesion: amend the constitution to restore ability for any 100 voting members to initiate a member meeting

Surely this resolution has to get up. It's a no brainer. I cannot see any valid reason to oppose it and the real question is why the IRP would not have recommended it. #whitewash!

Re: CPA Membership Fees

You may think that going to ICAANZ will mean a positive change, but ICAANZ has its own hidden problems. The current accounting system, the current check and balances to the membership, and the current audit system is no different at ICAANZ. They just do a better job, in the hiding the skelton's. At...

Re: Update on the operation of limited liability schemes for Public Practitioners

The basic problem is the risk involved with financial planning operation, which the accounting industry couldn't secure with an appropriate insurance policy. Therefore they had to remove the financial planning side to get coverage. This exclusion from CPA Australia, does seem like a house insurance...

Politicians can do it. CPAA Directors should disclose their full cost of all travel paid for by CPAA.

Re: Update on the operation of limited liability schemes for Public Practitioners

This was all caused by CPAA Advice. The PSC decided that because the association competes with accountants in the area of financial advice the association cannot regulate the accountants it competes with for any services. Any services meaning tax, audit or whatever. So if any of the following applie...

Re: Summary of CPA Australia Fiasco AFR 22nd Dec 2017 Joe Aston

If the selection process was any good independence from the old board would have been the number 1 essential criteria. I mean the whole reason this happened was for renewal and a fresh start with a new board. Then they get 2 Directors from AHRI. It should have been ruled out on the look alone.
