Merry Christmas to Peter Wilson. When it was suggested that Peter Wilson should be independent of the old board so that we can have a fresh start Peter responded with "That's your issue". Summary of the meeting here: viewtopic.php?f=23&t=594

Re: CPA Victorian Division Update

It says the document is from the Victorian Division, but looks very light on details relating to Victoria. Almost would think that it is a generic update, which could be used by the other state divisions. The content appears to have no bearing on the Victorian division at all. I would expect that a...

Re: why are CPA discussion group networking events NOT FREE???

Having potential attendees make a relatively small contribution probably encourages them to actually attend rather than just RSVPing and deciding at the last minute whether or not to go. Having said that - going forward, why not provide members with an annual 'credit' towards some of these CPA event...

Re: Brett's 'Weekly' Update 18th July 2017

Before we get too carried away in this thread ... There has been a lot going on at CPA Australia that we as members are not happy about, which is why there is so much "frothing". We have learnt in a very hard and public way that not everyone is focused on our interest. While we may have some recours...

Re: AFR 21 June - Victorian CPAs could lose legal indemnity

This has wide ranging implications for all members in public practice. The failure to meet the deadline means thousands of accountants in Victoria, and then potentially around the country, running their own businesses will be legally exposed until the problem can be rectified, or they can arrange ex...

Re: CPA Losing the battle with CA

Have to admit I did both programs around 20 years ago, and I can attest that the 'PY' (as it was then) was a much more technical and rigorous program, and it certainly was much more difficult (or challenging) than the CPA program.

How the programs compare these days, I really don't know.

Re: Prologue

Is there anything in this book that states or suggests it is the property of CPAA (rather than Alex Malley)?
Is the CPAA logo anywhere?
Does he say how great CPAA is, or is all 'me, me, me'?

... If there are less than 6 Directors continuing in office, the Board must not act except in emergencies, to appoint Directors up to the minimum of 6 Directors or to call and arrange a meeting of Members. I am struggling to interpret this. Is it missing some punctuation? To me it doesn't seem even...

I liked the one in today's AFR That is a good one about the recent Empire v Rebels (oops I mean CPAA v members) story. And yes nakedadmin that's the sort of summary I think is needed. Suggestion - "The story so far ..."

This website/forum needs a brief recent history or timeline section, so new readers can follow the story. I'm finding it quite hard to navigate around here, so a relatively short descriptive history would get people up to date without confusing them. Ideally avoiding "opinion"! I have noted some int...

Its really disappointing that someone would target Malleys home and kids for whatever reason. As a member of both organisations, I'd also be interested to know how CPAA and CAANZ compare in some of the areas being discussed.
