Merry Christmas to Peter Wilson. When it was suggested that Peter Wilson should be independent of the old board so that we can have a fresh start Peter responded with "That's your issue". Summary of the meeting here: viewtopic.php?f=23&t=594

Re: AFR June 19 - Rebels to sue CPA Australia board of Alex Malley 'cronies'

If there was any remaining doubt, the fact that members could soon launch legal action against their own association just proves that Malley doesn't give a damn about the organisation or its (now-tattered) reputation.

Re: Macrobusiness 13 June 2017 One small step for Naked CEO, one giant leap for CPA

Yet again, it is staggering how Malley was allowed to take up residence in the CPA Australia nest. CPAA's reputation gets more tattered by the day but the LinkedIn Influencer is either oblivious or doesn't give a hoot. If the story is true and he did shop it around to 60 Minutes, where would the mon...

Re: Alex Malley's $5.7m dud CPA financial advice venture _ afr

The above letter from Jeff Hughes is the evidence that the executives of CPA Australia do not want sole practitioners and small practices to provide financial services advice. In essence they are forcing the agenda against sole practitioners, such as myself. I am a financial adviser as well. The me...

Hi Drain_The_Swamp, Turns out you are correct. Re: Alex Malley's $5.7m dud CPA financial advice venture _ afr

It is not just that CPA Advice is an expensive dud, which anyone who went to the launch could have predicted, but on a more general level, why is a professional services organisation competing with its own members who either work for or have their own AFSL? Imagine if the Law Society set up its own ...

Re: AFR 7 June 2017 CPA Australia's Alex Malley's deal: join me and get a free visa check

This is just the last straw. The direction of CPAA under Alex Malley is appalling and shameful. What's next? Pokies in the CPA entrance foyer? Perhaps a new payday lending venture?

Re: CPA Response

Brett has done a great job to get to this point. And now we have some transparency. As we are all accountants the numbers will continue to drive this and get the message to members. The excessive compensation is not just the board and 3 individuals. Another 17 people receive over $250,000, probably...

Re: CPA Top Brass Over paid? ABC Report

The media focus on CPAA and the LinkedIn influencer seemed to be quietening down over the last week so I'm glad that the ABC is re-stoking the fire. It's also good that the ridiculous foray into financial planning - CPA Advice - is getting more scrutiny. How can CPA justify spending so much money an...

Re: Corporate Governance in Other Membership based Organisations

Great research. My guess is that plenty of CPA members would be willing to be directors either for free or a small honorarium.

That's $5.5 million right there for services to grassroots members.

Re: Education

You get the sense that providing members with services is a chore to be end endured by CPAA. Their focus is on the annuity of member subscriptions and distributing as little back to us as possible. They don't care what members want; they provide what's easiest for them. That's why the so-called Memb...

Re: 2016 $5,508,000 remuneration?

The changes have to be much wider than directors and executives fees, voting and the process of selection of candidates. There needs to be a cultural change and greater accountability (not sure if the pun is intended). The whole organisation needs to be reviewed from a management consulting or audit...

Both these letters are right on point but a pot of $5.5 million is a lot of money to give up, even if you are a 'LinkedIn influencer.'

We will need unrelenting pressure to lance this boil.

Re: Education

Totally agree with you on CPAA's insipid and expensive educational offerings. Far more should be totally free as a service to members. Unfortunately many organisations seem to reach a tipping point where their primary focus becomes self-preservation and self-aggrandisement. CPA is feasting on member...

Re: $7 Million Surplus, Annual Membership Fee Increases, No Add Benefits to Members

There clearly needs to be an external examination of how members' money is being used. It is clear that fees are too high and that there is enormous feather-bedding and waste. My guess is that you could halve membership fees with no appreciable decline in 'services.'
