Merry Christmas to Peter Wilson. When it was suggested that Peter Wilson should be independent of the old board so that we can have a fresh start Peter responded with "That's your issue". Summary of the meeting here: viewtopic.php?f=23&t=594
A good summary of where we are up to by Joe Aston of the AFR, linked to from here: viewtopic.php?f=5&p=4137#p4137

Re: Message from Mr McPhee about Independent review requesting submissions.

People should want to be in the positions for the prestige rather than the monetary return. The problem at the moment is CPA's credibility means these positions aren't that prestigious. I think a big drop (rather than incremental) and the people willing to work for the good of the industry rather th...

The "who you know" list

just shows how pathetic this "fiercely independent review" is when one of those gifted a lifetime membership is chairing the review.

You think this is an exaggeration well I say you have a look at the annual reports Joe Aston has referred to, and you will see that he's right. Brett. I am not a troll, but I could not help in responding to your emotive comments. Why is Joe such an expert in your opinion, and why are you quoting hi...

Jfa220854, what sort of trial are you expecting? The Directors have refused to disclose any information requested, they have changed the constitution so they elect themselves and members have little ability to influence, they have moved the AGM to Singapore to avoid being questioned, they had to be ...

Re: AFR June 16 - From sad to outrageous, the Alex Malley CPA Australia protection racket

I think your right brooding, we know the result of this paid for "independent" review is going to be favorable for CPA's management which members won't accept. Then questions will be asked about Sir Angus Houston and Ian Mcphee.

Re: Emergency board meeting

The only reason the media outlet is getting traction is because its clear that something is off. Would love to have been a fly on the wall of this meeting listening to them justify their position, claiming its all the medias doing, the public have no idea and that they are deserving of everything th...

Re: Historical performance comparison

Here are some charts built off Robert's figures. A picture tells a thousand words. 1. Expense categories from the income statement as a percentage of total expense 2. Expenses in the service type categories as a percentage of total expense. 3. So I have created 2 groups purely based on the name of t...

Re: AFR 6th June 2017 ASIC Examines CPA Accounts

A peak accounting body doesn't understand that accounts need to be lodged with FS70 / FS71 forms? Come on. There would be first year audit graduates that understand that. How was our $900k+ p.a. company secretary not on top of this? If they sat the Professional CPA course rather than just giving th...

Re: Rattled Alex on ABC the Business

It really grates me how Alex/CPA publications are trying to frame that we are a massive organisation. We are not, we are one of many industry specific not-for-profit bodies and small by company standards. We are the 1,525 largest company/organisation in Australia by revenue. https://www.ibisworld.co...

Re: AFR 18th May 2017 Fudging Membership Number at CPA

From the annual reports CPA members have grown by an average of 3.64% over last 10 years or 3.33% when you use the true figure of 155,116 confirmed by Adam Awty. This doesn't include the sharper increase in ASA Members which hides the true low growth of Full CPA members. Quite a concern that there w...

I don't see anything wrong with funding research as long as it is relevant and we know what it is.

If we are going to fund the research then it needs to be disclosed and we deserve a little credit as being a sponsor. Why wouldn't it be disclosed?

Re: CPA Email: it's a Rogue Member!

I think any organisation would be concerned if anyone one, including a member, wanted to communicate with their entire membership base. They had a duty to inform members that they released their information and may be contacted from an unexpected source. But what they said was a massive error of jud...

If they were "concerned about the security of your (our) personal information" they would have withheld our postal/home addresses rather than email address.
