Merry Christmas to Peter Wilson. When it was suggested that Peter Wilson should be independent of the old board so that we can have a fresh start Peter responded with "That's your issue". Summary of the meeting here: viewtopic.php?f=23&t=594

Re: Four Special Resolutions to review and sign for AGM

I would suggest that there is probably no documents, just like the minutes relating to the decision to increase Alex Malley's termination payment. The rules didn't apply to the previous board and management team, and would argue they still don't, yet lets hope they can change. They had their own unw...

Re: Greater Transparency on International Travel at CPA

Greater transparency is a good thing all round in the Not For Profit sector. We have financial reports provided to members of an accounting organsiation which meets minimum compliance standards, but fails in providing relevant accounting information for the most important users, the accountant membe...

Re: What CPA Australia thinks they exist for

Resigning is easy, as there are other professional organisation, which accountants can be associated with. It is easy to resign from CPA Austraila in order to save money, but change comes with many voices and change of ideas. Yes it is disappointing that the many state presidents, the many committee...

2018 AGM and proxy voting - be careful when voting

Have attached below the notice of the AGM, along with the sections from the constitution, which are very interesting. Members need to be very careful when completing proxies, so to ensure that their votes are not given to the chair to use at the AGM. The board has the power to enable electronic voti...

Re: Promoting Alex Malley, instead of CPA as an organisation

What about the 2GB spot that Alex Malley had. CPA Australia sponsored 2GB in 2017, and had staff of CPA appearing on the station during 2017, yet no real disclosure about this. So when Alex was terminated, he continued on 2GB for six months, as a "Deplorable". Don't think this will be disclosed in t...

Re: Suggestion: Objects

A resolution put forward needs to amend the current voting system. Stop the proxy votes going to the board. Enable members to vote electronically, so they can directly vote for, or against a resolution. Lets stop the past examples of how the past boards got their resolutions passed with less than 50...

Re: 12th Feb 2018. The rort continues. Joe Aston column today

I would encourage members to attend the AGM. The AGM is normally completed within an hour. Twenty minutes of listening to the chairman/president read a speech best described as marketing speak and then completed with the answering of a a few questions, if any, because few can attend the Melbourne AG...

Re: Suggestion: amend the constitution to restore ability for any 100 voting members to initiate a member meeting

Lets not forget that Chartered Accountants now control CPA Australia, with the board members made up of a majority of ICAANZ trained and still members of ICAANZ. Increasing the number from 100 to 200, although in line with other organisations, is aimed at stopping numerous calls for extraordinary AG...

Removal of life membership for all, would not be defamatory. Then they could create a new system to recognise those members who have contributed without financial gain or been a been a president or board member. Life membership should not be a given, because the individuals were past presidents or b...

What about the Alex Malley 2GB radio show. Who paid for that? Did CPA Australia pay for this one for the 2017 calendar year? Re: Suggestion: amend the constitution to restore ability for any 100 voting members to initiate a member meeting

The CPA Constitution needs major changes. The previous boards, since 2007 basically gave themselves too much power, too much control over their own remuneration and little regard for the general membership. No accountability. This was clearly displayed at the annual AGM. The constitution needs to en...

Members with CPA Advice, numbers are now 35 advisers. Still would have made a loss during the 2017 calendar year.
