Merry Christmas to Peter Wilson. When it was suggested that Peter Wilson should be independent of the old board so that we can have a fresh start Peter responded with "That's your issue". Summary of the meeting here: viewtopic.php?f=23&t=594

Re: Methinks we lost the war

Brett, I disagree. Let's consider this. On 1 May we received an email from the Board stating "We write to advise that you may soon receive unsolicited correspondence from a member, who has requested access to CPA Australia's full register of members.' At that time the full weight of the board, CEO, ...

Termination of CEO is only part of the process

While many might see the departure of the overpaid and over advertised CEO as the end game I think it is only part of the process of reconstituting the society, and requires the removal of all current directors and any other executives responsible for the situation we have today. The rump of the boa...

Re: CPA Australia Advice Pty Ltd

Brett, well said. After all the other issues, internal governance, board extensions, remuneration levels, marketing spend, etc I believe CPAA Advice is the key issue that will bring about reformation to the society. Even as recently as the last few weeks the CEO has been on TV begging for recognitio...

Re: Fortnight that was 8th June 2017. Where to start?

Keep moving this forward for the members please Brett. Others are now involved beyond journalists and the "Iceland" group, and more names are publicly being added to the 6 (although of course it is the 100+ who signed the s202B who should be commended). Politicians, public servants and institutions ...

Re: Historical performance comparison

To add to Roberts remuneration review, attached is a table created from public information. It is obvious why the Board has not published its benchmarking studies to justify the salaries throughout the organisation.

I concur with Brett, but please also encourage involvement here and on the mail list with your colleagues, without identifying yourself if that is how you feel comfortable. Note the CPAA privacy policy below, particularly in regard to Elysse Morgan's ABC interview. CPAA CEO: “Most of the people on t...

Re: 3 June 2017 - Alex Malley Attacks Iceland Website

His answer to the second time he was asked about the 45,000 member increase was to talk surplus, Iceland, pseudonyms and "6 named members".

Did I make the shortlist of 6 ?

I use the 2006 annual report as the base before the changes to constitution and usurpation. Attached are just the 2005 accounts as well.

Re: CPA Response

AICPA has over 400,000 members (2.5x CPA Australia) For what it's worth ... There are 660,000 CPAs in the US. They are registered and trained at the state level (as most things are in the US). 420,000 choose to join the federal body as well. CPAA has around 90,000 CPAs (we don’t know exactly). AICP...

Re: CPA Response

I stand to be corrected but to call a meeting of members you need 5% of members to call it (s249D). The 100 member rule was abolished 2 years ago.

Or if just one director would step up they can call one (s249C).

Re: CPA Response

Brett has done a great job to get to this point. And now we have some transparency. As we are all accountants the numbers will continue to drive this and get the message to members. The excessive compensation is not just the board and 3 individuals. Another 17 people receive over $250,000, probably ...

Re: $7 Million Surplus, Annual Membership Fee Increases, No Add Benefits to Members

Here's a view on the over billing and over spending of over $30m each year. It is based upon a review of 2006 (pre constitutional changes) and 2010 (start of impact of "brand"). Regarding compensation in 2006, from the PRINCIPLE 9: REMUNERATE FAIRLY AND RESPONSIBLY the report stated, - "In 2006, dir...

Brett, et al, sterling work to date. Hello all, including CPA custodians and employees. My name is Mark Gilroy, CPA of some 20 plus years. I see no need to remain anonymous. My very simple view is that this is not a business, but a professional association, with a government permit. I will be postin...
