Merry Christmas to Peter Wilson. When it was suggested that Peter Wilson should be independent of the old board so that we can have a fresh start Peter responded with "That's your issue". Summary of the meeting here: viewtopic.php?f=23&t=594

Re: CPA director Caroline Spencer appointed WA Auditor General

It’s not just management on the run, it’s really poor PR management (if not plain old pig-headed ignorance ) to let the issue play out the way it has , after the fiasco CPA has already had along similar lines with Tyrone “8 days a week” Carlin. They should have been on the front foot on the issue of...

Re: Failure of the IRP Final Report - No accountability or responsibility

Hope is not a strategy. Especially when CPA has a majority of disinterested/self-interested members who cannot be arsed to take issue with a leadership group that has been getting rich at their expense for over a decade, and delivering very little in return. And when we have a useless AICD and ASIC ...

Re: CPA Australia members are 'being taken for a ride'.

I just hope for the sake of the future of the CPA designation that this AGM vote doesn’t suffer from the low voter turnouts and member apathy of the past that allowed us to get into this mess in the first place. Of which I readily admit I was one. Good luck Brett.

Hubris and arrogance are alive and well at Southbank if Mr Drum thinks his organisation has a shred of credibility or moral compass required to pontificate on board behaviour and ASIC enforcement.

Re: What do members think of "InTheBlack" magazine?

The latest issue of ITB actually , finally , published a letter from a member expressing their disappointment with the past events at CPA Australia, the lack of pursuing accountability, and the need to restore the brand.

Memo to the Editors: too little, too late.

They do not want to uncover anymore skeletons. They do not want any more bad press. They just want to move forward. As I have been saying since the Independent Review Interim Report, and Peter Wilson’s “that’s your problem” utterances....this here is the fatal flaw in the ill-conceived, inwardly-lo...

Re: CPA Australia Governance Case Study One: CEO’s three year termination contract

When there is no accountability and transparency in an accounting organisation, we’re all ****ed. This whole drama to date sends a terrible message to accountants everywhere about how they look at financial and ethical issues in their day to day employment . Why should I be fair and independent ? Last time I met Malley, back in about 2015, he told me what a great guy Tyrone Carlin was. Look how great he has proved to be. Great at getting his snout in the trough, but not much else that has been reported. I certainly struggle to find any reporting of his achievements on behalf of CPA members. ...

Re: Greater Transparency on International Travel at CPA

Go back and look at any past post of mine on the subject. I think I was the first one to raise that a forensic audit should happen AND I asked for one in my first letter to the Board way before Malley was punted (never did get an answer to that letter but I know it was circulated inside CPA) The new...

Re: Four Special Resolutions to review and sign for AGM

Well if voting for people who vote for other people works so well why has the Representative Council failed so badly. I am assuming this is not a rhetorical question. The answer seems to be - - the rep council is not elected by Members directly. There is a call for nominations from the divisional c...

Re: 12th Feb 2018. The rort continues. Joe Aston column today

Why did the old board see the need to rush through a clause right before their term ended last year, a clause allowing for CPA Advice directors to have their legal fees covered by CPA Australia ? Is this because they could see grounds for legal action related to directors duties? Everyway you look a...

Some people have criticised me for not renewing this year , but frankly Joe’s latest missive is exactly what I thought would happen, and I don’t want to be professionally associated with this any longer.. Peter may well have had no contact with Malley i...
