Merry Christmas to Peter Wilson. When it was suggested that Peter Wilson should be independent of the old board so that we can have a fresh start Peter responded with "That's your issue". Summary of the meeting here: viewtopic.php?f=23&t=594

A brief video message to academics about CPA Australia

I have just posted this video on LInkedIn and shall send to the various university business schools etc.
It is reasonably self explanatory. To get them engaged on this matter prior to the AGM next Tuesday (22nd May 2018)

NSW, VIC, Qld, AW Members Read Carefully You are being gerrymandered out

CPA Australia NSW, VIC, QLD and WA Members especially Read Carefully You are being gerrymandered out All CPA Australia members, but especially NSW, Victorian, QLD and WA members need to read this carefully before voting at the AGM or by proxy. Ask yourself why won’t the board give us the numbers of...

Re: How to vote in AGM 2018? If I can't attend in person?

Hi Magnet, have a look at the Frequently Asked Questions with the Notice of AGM on the CPA website.
It is pretty clear and helpful on the voting process including on the night.
If you attend in person you will receive a voting card when you register at the AGM.
Cheers

CPA Australia members are 'being taken for a ride'.

After all that has been exposed and reported on about the terrible leadership (at both board and management level) and resultant ‘shenanigans’ at CPA Australia over the last decade, it appears we are just being ‘taken for a ride’. In more blunt terms we are just being treated with the same disdain a...

Re: email from NSW Divisional Council

I think you can take it that the board have asked the divisional presidents to send these standard letters out to the members. Word perfect, and these divisional presidents want us to think they have our interests at heart and are genuine. Can any of the members in other states send in examples from...

Part Two of Shortish Video on Resolutions at the AGM

Hi all, this is the second part of my video presentation. https://youtu.be/i1bR6X61_NE I hope it is helpful. I have probably gone a wee bit hard on resolution 8 calling it dangerous, so my apologies for that, a bit of a rhetorical flush not needed. If we want to be able to vote as members for the di...

Shortish video on the resolutions at the AGM Part One

Hi all, attached is the link to the first of two shortish video's for your consideration on the 14 resolutions at the AGM. The second one I will post up tonight. https://lnkd.in/fnVxik7 Glen Hasselman has also done a great video, so look for it also on LinkedIn. Perhaps the simplest approach is to o...

Re: How to vote in AGM 2018? If I can't attend in person?

Yes, proxies can be confusing because of the wording. Proxies are for members who cannot attend but wish to have a say. When appointing a proxy you have two options 1. give them a directed proxy which means you vote on each resolution and they are effectively lodging that on your behalf. With a direc...

Proxy Voting at AGM

It is critical if members sign someone to be their proxy that they know how that prose will be voting at the AGM. The board have told us how they will vote. Glen Hasselman has told us how he will vote (presumably on behalf of the (The Spillers) Now is the time for other groups to nail their colours ...

Re: email from NSW Divisional Council

I totally agree Stomper. I have just sent off n email to Shabnam as our Divisional President to let us know how she, as presumably representing the views of the NSW Divisional Council, will be voting on these issues. They cannot, with any integrity anyway, collect proxies if they do not tell us how ...

Re: D Day has arrived for CPA Australia Members.

Hi Kennic and all, Re proxies if you actually vote on the proxy form on each resolution, it doesn't matter to whom you assign as a proxy. Your vote is as you determined. If you leave your proxy as undecided then it is the proxy who decides how to vote on each resolution for you. The board have made ...

Leadership & Ethical Standards in the accounting profession? CPA & APESB

This is a question that the whole CPA Australia saga has raised in my mind. Well the answers are not readily apparent for this journeyman accountant so I thought I might try to glean some useful insights from our ‘premier’ accounting body responsible for setting ethical standards - the APESB (Accoun...

Why are J Cahill and P Egan still directors on APESB?

It is now well over six months since the new board have been in place yet John Cahill and Penny Egan are still directors on the APESB. Why? CPA directly appoint two directors (with CANZ appointing 2 and IPA one, and the five directors appointing a sixth non-accountant (currently Nicola Roxon). Given...

D Day has arrived for CPA Australia Members.

D Day has arrived for members of CPA Australia. It has been a long time coming, and we have had to endure a woeful period of leadership at CPA Australia. But finally we as members have our chance to not only have our say (even though we have already had plenty of opportunities to do that) but to al...

Jeff Hughes - has moved to Engineers Australia

I thought you might be interested to see this post in Linked In, and my comment. See attached.
Jeff Hughes has moved to be EGM Member Services at Engineers Australia.
Lets hope he doesn't start distinguishing between members as friendlies and not so friendlies as he did at CPA Australia.

Re: Where are IRP Reports and IRP Review Panels website?

Hi all, I have just spoken with a board member and they assure me that the reason for this was that the Nous Group, who host the Independent Review material, had a technical glitch and the website was down at their end. This has now been corrected. This had nothing to do with CPA, and they are as co...

Re: Where are IRP Reports and IRP Review Panels website?

It is back up again this morning. I would like to imagine it was a technical hitch fixed, and not a members complaining email or a journalists reference in todays AFR. But having been through the Find a CPA technical glitch story then revised to board decision to remove last year, I am not so sure. ...

Re: Where are IRP Reports and IRP Review Panels website?

Thanks nakedadmin. Unbelievable really. They take away all the relevant information, just as they are about to send out the Notic...

Where are IRP Reports and IRP Review Panels website?

Does anyone else have the same problem as me finding the cpaindependetreview website, or has it been shut down. Also the Independent Review section on the CPA Australia website also seems to have been removed. I don't wish to cast any unfounded criticisms until I am sure of this. Can anyone tell me ...

Re: EOI - Trust in CPA Australia Case Study

Hi All,
Can I encourage you to participate in this study being done from UQ (Mattia Anesa) and the UNSW one (Conor Clune and Paul Andon).
I reckon any outside perspective on what has happened at CPA would be helpful, and especially from the academic world.
Cheers
