Merry Christmas to Peter Wilson. When it was suggested that Peter Wilson should be independent of the old board so that we can have a fresh start Peter responded with "That's your issue". Summary of the meeting here: viewtopic.php?f=23&t=594

Re: A brief note to Engineers Australia members

One to watch for sure....... Very opaque to members and reliant on a congress model of board appointments which is subject to same risks as that at CPA. They also have history of paying their ceo too much and want to get more involved in training and registration activities.... maybe the ceo knows e...

13. That full disclosure be made of all grants and moneys provided to universities and other educational organisations for research etc. I suggest this is one of the reasons why many in academia have been noticeably quiet about the shenanigans at CPA Australia. A sort of ‘golden handcuffs’ you coul...

Re: 15th Dec 2017 The Saga/Nightmare Continues at CPA Australia

An interesting case (from an AICD update) Shareholder ratification obtained after full disclosure may provide a defence to directors’ breach of general law duties, but not their statutory duties. FAL Healthy Beverages Pty Ltd (FAL HB) and its subsidiary successfully claimed that Timothy Xenos, a for...

Re: Independent Review Panel - Final Report

Membership numbers seem to have been reviewed forensically.

Perhaps the easiest lie to prove.

"CPA Australia misunderstood the requirements of a section 202B disclosure"

is surely grounds for a formal complaint about the professional conduct of a CPA....................

Re: Interim Report and Posting Guide

"Why are CPA making so much money from training - is CPD to build professional standards or to pump money into CPA?"

The latter - business plan of Malley n co to fund lifestyle exposed - Nailed it!!!!!

I guess he learnt from mistakes at past employer and ramped it up a bit at CPA.

Re: Brett's Report on the Senate Hearing 5th Sept 2017

I think its really much simpler. Final comment on this was that the Board met its obligations to the CEO - Board was 100% behind CEO (performance appraisals, KPI's etc etc) - they decide to terminate CEO after the Divisions weighed in (It was their decision not the divisions. They are the Board afte...

Re: AFR 2Aug 2017 - Aust Institute of Company Directors clause prevents CEO pay disclosure

Now were getting closer to the source of the problem. AICD at its core is focussed on listed company rules yet is spreading its word to NFP and private companies in an effort to sell its courses and expand its member base and influence. Sound familier?

Do as we say not as we do.

I recall the Board claiming to have a contingency plan to preserve the value of the investment in the Naked CEO branding when defending the personality / celebrity approach.

Cant see any sign of it in action......

Re: Independent Review Update

I question the heavy involvement of those aligned with AICD. My direct experience is that they AICD struggle with the governance model for the NFP sector and view a model free of shareholder agreements or member direction as the purist form, and seek to obtain this. As for policing behavioural stand...

They would have the normal confidentiality obligations in dealing with matters before them in their official roles. I expect they were warned about this recently (a shot across the bow to maintain discipline and loyalty). If they have gone further that's extraordinary but there could even be a good ...

Re: A Path For CPA Renewal - s249D Call for Members meeting and next steps

AICD need to deal with the fact that existing and former directors were Fellows of AICD before anyone suggests AICD membership (nothing against Baxt) qualifies anyone to participate in renewal. Rather than an inquisition or academic sojourn I'd suggest a membership endorsed Board with short and fini...
