Re: TV Ads

Did anyone hear who won the CPA tickets to the Australian Open that CPA Australia was advertising that members could win? Maybe the winners of the tickets were the management team and select board members? I haven't received anything from CPA notifiying the winners of the competition. The CPA websi...

TV Ads

Noticed while watching the cricket last night on channel 9 that CPA have started running some tv ads again. Seemed to be the same ones as a few years ago. I would also expect to see a heap of ads popping up on channel 7 over the next 2 weeks with the australian open starting today. Money well spent!...

Re: CPA Australia and The Castle. Striking similarities

I do love this movie!

Towards the end of the movie, after the lawyer Dennis Denuto has made it to the big time, he gets a plaque outside his office "As Seen On TV"....i can just imagine such a plaque hanging outside the next office of our former CEO!!

Re: CPA Membership Fees

I would think if you make the effort and resign your membership they can't count you. You need to return the certificates anyway. Also resigning will hopefully stop the reminder emails to renew your membership, then the threatening ones that you haven't renewed and will be charged extra, then the r...

SME Round Table Breakfast: Dr Richard Hames - Futurist

Wasn't sure where to post this but thought i'd put it in here... I attended a business breakfast this morning at the CPA HQ in Melbourne. Guest speaker was Dr Richard Hames. His presentation was very interesting and he made a number of very good points, one in particular which made me chuckle. He wa...

Re: Methinks we lost the war

.... I contend that this is a case of breach of directors duties and those section 180's provisions in the Corporations Act should be first port of call. .... Obviously ASIC is not going to investigate. Is the only way for us to pursue this possible breach of directors duties through a members reso...

Re: Bretts Initial Response to IRP Final Report 1st Dec 2017

Great post Brett. Looking forward to you analysis and critique in the coming weeks. It does appear that the IRP went in with the brief to not apportion blame on any individuals. They have not intent to hold people accountable for the their actions...only to see identify issues, how it can be improve...

Re: 21 Nov 2017 - Independent Review Panel Communique

Yes interesting that you employ external consultants to review the CEO remuneration, then you ignore the report and increase his contractual termination payment entitlement...twice. This part is just staggering!!! How can they get away with this!!?? This surely is a breach of their duties as direct...

Re: 21 Nov 2017 - Independent Review Panel Communique

What can be achieved with the new voting block that has been developed through this process? Is it more possible now to influence change or is it still dependent on the divisions and those members that hold positions there? It's votes that count at the AGM and Brett is having some resolutions draft...

Re: 21 Nov 2017 - Independent Review Panel Communique

So we'll be getting our Final Report by the end of next week. Good work by them to have it prepared so quickly. However I think the main thing I took out from the above email was that they only received 16 submissions through the website and only 89 survey responses. Not a great response really. Its...

Thanks Brett. Fantastic email...i feel energised reading your posts...great fighting spirit! 100% agree that getting these members resolutions signed and into CPA board is our best course of action. Unfortunately it seems that the quest for 6,000 member signatures need for an EGM has fallen short, b...
