Merry Christmas to Peter Wilson. When it was suggested that Peter Wilson should be independent of the old board so that we can have a fresh start Peter responded with "That's your issue". Summary of the meeting here: viewtopic.php?f=23&t=594

Very disappointing that the Spillers group has failed to help you out Brett...going to make it so much harder now!

Re: Special Resolutions for AGM plus governance concern

Great work Brett, I will be signing the resolutions! And I will email my Victoria Divisional council with concerns about the need to fix the governance model and you report. Also, and this is just a thought, will your resolutions be sent out to members via email? Similar to the "Spillers" group emai...

Re: Promoting Alex Malley, instead of CPA as an organisation

Unbelievable!! I never knew they had a whole tram advertising that pathetic book! And i still can't even get my head around the purchase of a coffee shop!! Seriously???? If a forensic review of the CPA books is ever completed, I can't imagine what else they would find. I bet there would be plenty of...

Re: Promoting Alex Malley, instead of CPA as an organisation

Just a quick update on the purchase of the coffee shop. Yep they bought the coffee shop. It's been confirmed by a reliable/senior source on the inside. Apparently Alex had some plans about what he wanted to do with events and it fit into that plan. Don't worry, I'm sure the purchase of a coffee sho...

Re: Brief Update from Brett 6th Feb 2018

I would recommend that life membership be stripped from Malley and the other directors who have breached their duties. I know that everyone in here would 100% support that Malley is stripped of his life membership, however I think someone was advised that CPA would find this sort of proposal 'defam...

Re: Greater Transparency on International Travel at CPA

Taken out of context the way it was, I appreciate the misunderstanding but perhaps this is a good opportunity to correct this. Do you think it may have been a better opportunity to clear it up when the article was written 11 months ago?? https://www.google.com.au/amp/s/amp.afr.com/brand/rear-window...

Re: ABC - Entry exams and fail rates

I never questioned the course itself...if I couldnt pass the subjects they set, I would have realised that perhaps accounting is not the job for me. The exams are hard for a reason...if you can't pass them then maybe think about a different path. Steady on there young fella. People come from differ...

Re: ABC - Entry exams and fail rates

I have only been a qualified CPA for about 1 year, although i finished all my exams about 2 years ago. I found the CPA program to be very challenging in parts although I did not fail any subjects. Some subjects were far easier than others. I never questioned the course itself...if I couldnt pass the...

Re: TV Ads

Did anyone hear who won the CPA tickets to the Australian Open that CPA Australia was advertising that members could win? Maybe the winners of the tickets were the management team and select board members? I haven't received anything from CPA notifiying the winners of the competition. The CPA websi...

TV Ads

Noticed while watching the cricket last night on channel 9 that CPA have started running some tv ads again. Seemed to be the same ones as a few years ago. I would also expect to see a heap of ads popping up on channel 7 over the next 2 weeks with the australian open starting today. Money well spent!...

I do love this movie!

Towards the end of the movie, after the lawyer Dennis Denuto has made it to the big time, he gets a plaque outside his office "As Seen On TV"....i can just imagine such a plaque hanging outside the next office of our former CEO!!

SME Round Table Breakfast: Dr Richard Hames - Futurist

Wasn't sure where to post this but thought i'd put it in here... I attended a business breakfast this morning at the CPA HQ in Melbourne. Guest speaker was Dr Richard Hames. His presentation was very interesting and he made a number of very good points, one in particular which made me chuckle. He wa...
