Merry Christmas to Peter Wilson. When it was suggested that Peter Wilson should be independent of the old board so that we can have a fresh start Peter responded with "That's your issue". Summary of the meeting here: viewtopic.php?f=23&t=594

Re: CPA director Caroline Spencer appointed WA Auditor General

I think it's great that someone that has had the qualifications and experience to be appointed WA Auditor General is on the board of CPA Australia. If, when I was still a member, I was given the opportunity to vote for the board she would have got my vote. Obviously she has dealt with the relevant i...

Re: 12th Feb 2018. The rort continues. Joe Aston column today

Some people have criticised me for not renewing this year , but frankly Joe’s latest missive is exactly what I thought would happen, and I don’t want to be professionally associated with this any longer.. I'm with you all the way on that one. That's why I didn't renew. The prevailing attitude at bo...

Re: Update on the operation of limited liability schemes for Public Practitioners

This was all caused by CPAA Advice. The PSC decided that because the association competes with accountants in the area of financial advice the association cannot regulate the accountants it competes with for any services. Any services meaning tax, audit or whatever. So if any of the following appli...

Re: TV Ads

Off-topic, but I for one have not renewed my membership. Makes me feel good to know that I am not paying for any of this anymore :D Yes it is quite satisfying not paying for the adds anymore isn't it. They are pushing the CPA Programme so hard in the adds when they really should be rebuilding the t...

Re: Out with Malley in with Malley 2.0?

Wow and here was me thinking the new Prezz was captured by the toxic governance culture of CPA Australia in records time.... It seems the selection panel, supposedly independent of the old board just appointed a clone of the previous prezz and board. Also might explain the lack of interest in holdin...

[ I've only been a fully qualified CPA for 6 months and am incredibly frustrated by this saga...I can only imagine how annoyed you are Steve after so many years! I respect your position also. I feel your pain, having put the effort in to get qualified only to see the organisation and designation bei...

Re: CPA Membership Fees

I would think if you make the effort and resign your membership they can't count you. You need to return the certificates anyway. Also resigning will hopefully stop the reminder emails to renew your membership, then the threatening ones that you haven't renewed and will be charged extra, then the r...

Re: CPA Membership Fees

But mark my words, if we all stay to do that, this Board will tout any slight reduction in renewals this December as a validation of their weak-natured “nothing to see here “ approach, claim victory, and continue to thwart efforts for meaningful change towards accountability and genuine member repr...

Re: Bretts Initial Response to IRP Final Report 1st Dec 2017

I've posted a question on the CPA Australia Facebook page today, asking if the new board will provide a response to the IRP Final report specifically related to the two increases in the notice period on termination of the CEO. Still waiting for a reply....

Re: 21 Nov 2017 - Independent Review Panel Communique

Yes interesting that you employ external consultants to review the CEO remuneration, then you ignore the report and increase his contractual termination payment entitlement...twice. You just have to wonder on what planet these board members lived. At least we know the increased entitlement to three ...

Re: 21 Nov 2017 - Independent Review Panel Communique

Thanks for all your effort Brett, without you Mr Malley would still be wasting members money on his Naked CEO profile and media career. Looking back on the campaign you have achieved a great deal, which you and your "rebel" team should be very proud of. I await with anticipation the final report of ...

Re: 21 Nov 2017 - Independent Review Panel Communique

I would love to vote at the AGM, but my membership will be well and truly expired by then, having joined in 1989. Can't justify $1,190.00 just to vote at the AGM. Let's face it there will probably be some tricky tactics by the board anyway at the AGM to shut down any "rebel" motions. You know "Oh so...

Re: 21 Nov 2017 - Independent Review Panel Communique

Hey I submitted something after the interim report..... Not sure they would have been happy with my feedback, I was quite scathing.

Anyway good to know the final report is due early December. Don 't expect much...... Will just confirm my decision not to renew my membership.

Re: CPA Australia's CPA Advice Programme

I'm not surprised by this. Surely the remaining two old guard directors should resign immediately! I watched the Senate committee where Dickerson claimed everything was up to the new board! Obviously except for changing the constitution of CPAA Advice to cover their own arses. Back to the old chestn...

Re: Accountants Daily Podcast with IPA CEO Andrew Conway

CPAA will change when we make it change at a General Meeting, but not before. All good in theory, but how do you get an item on the agenda of the AGM, because let's face it the EGM won't happen, the member numbers are too big to get the 5%. The AGM agenda will then be controlled by the new board and...

Re: Accountants Daily Podcast with IPA CEO Andrew Conway

The boards behaviour all the way through has been to treat the members with contempt, that's what gets to me. Even now the IRP hasn't got to the root cause of the issue, the nerve, having a go at members for being rude to the staff who were told to sprout lies. Nothing will change at CPA Australia. ...

Re: Accountants Daily Podcast with IPA CEO Andrew Conway

Listened to the podcast very enlightening. A CEO that wants to talk to members, doesn't think of them as " the great unwashed" like Mr Malley. Really torn between IPA and CAANZ.... Eligible for both, can't really see myself stumping up my subs in December, too much lost trust. For an organisation wi...

Re: Interim Report and Posting Guide

I've read the entire report. The section on marketing was relatively speaking quite hard hitting. All the Alex Malley centric marketing was controlled by him. As I suspected there was no overall marketing strategy for the organisation. The graph comparing his salary increases to membership numbers w...

Re: CPA Australia - Sponsorship

Well said JWheldon. There is the old joke about the accountant and the marketing department. How can you tell when the chief accountant is getting soft? When he actually listens to marketing before saying “no.” Obviously Mr Malley is the marketing department, why didn't the board just say no to 99.5...

Re: AFR 5 Sept 2017 - Jim Dickson defends CPA board and Alex Malley at Senate Committee

Good to see our elected parliamentary representatives doing something useful. Opening statement by Dickson, trying to blame the media was pathetic. At times it was painful to watch, the answers to the questions were for the most part inadequate but at least someone has got to ask the questions in an...
