Merry Christmas to Peter Wilson. When it was suggested that Peter Wilson should be independent of the old board so that we can have a fresh start Peter responded with "That's your issue". Summary of the meeting here: viewtopic.php?f=23&t=594

Re: ABC - Entry exams and fail rates

Andcor is right that an there should be some changes to the CPA program. A student who studying CPA Foundations came to me last year trying to understand scaled scoring and what was going wrong as they were failing the subject. CPA foundations marking system is very confusing and you have no idea wh...

Agree passedfc.

I have circulated to my CPA contacts as well and hopefully few more will signup as it builds to the number.

It is not bad to be at 1200 after not even 1 week.

Also with 30 June year end people would have been busy.

Re: Alex on 2GB today! having a good old laugh

Agree with comments above. An investigation into the years 2009-17 needs to be done. How did the marketing spend & remuneration increase each year, who approved it? what was the basis? Did remuneration consultants prepare reports? which organisations were benchmarked? Based on the comparison of CA A...

Agree with your observations passerdfc.

Alex also indicated that when he looks at the CPA 'rebels" that we have not achieved much in life.

At least we have not lived "a big life" on somebody else's money.

Re: Just recieved the 202B !!! So much money!

Hi All, So the KMP remuneration of $5.5 million disclosed just two months ago is now $ 6.8 million. That is an error of more than 20%. As most subsidiaries were pre-existing in 2016 that means the disclosures in the prior years audited financial statements are wrong as well as they have not picked u...

Re: Alex on 2GB today! having a good old laugh

In the interview Alex says he executed the strategy as per the Board and the rep council. So it is actually not his fault !!! It would be interesting to know what Alex's salary was at the time he was appointed and then how it increased over time. My guess is his end salary was more than 5 times his ...

I am confused.

How is the CPA Chair also chairing the representative council?

So the chair is chairing the committee that is appointing the board as well as him or her.

Re: My letter to the Board re Malley termination

Hi All, Have to agree with Ziffelmac. In the black has become a social magzine compared to the CPA magazine that was produced about 10 years ago. The IPA magazine is much better and has relevant material including technical material. CPA outsourcing the magazine and has completely lost its way and p...

Re: A Path For CPA Renewal - s249D Call for Members meeting and next steps

Agree with Brett's comments. The people in the divisional council observed for years and did not appear to correct what was going on. If a members EGM meeting is called then the members can also at the same time appoint an interim Board. While back in this forum there was a list of an alternative Bo...

Re: Prologue

Hi Ken,

There was an analysis done by someone that estimated sales of under 1000 units based on its Amazon ratings.

Based on the marketing spend (at our expense) it would be the most marketed book on the planet which should not even be on the reading list at an undergraduate level.

Re: Calling meeting of Members

Hi All, As each day passes something new comes out and it is damaging to the brand and the profession. The only way to resolve this is a members EGM. Are we really stuck that we do not know the full member number or could we take a guess at it? My educated guess is that it is highly unlikely that we...

Hi Bottomline, Cannot agree more with your comments. This is not counting what we have not been aware of over the last 7 + years of various expenditure and sponsorships etc. Interesting comparison with Madoff. The irony is that this has occurred with accountants while in the Madoff case some investo...

Re: What should the remuneration levels be at CPA Australia? Currently it is scandalous

I note that the CIMA Integrated Report clearly shows the number of students acquired during the period, the number of full members acquired during the period and the number of full members at the end of the period. CPA Australia and its CEO was on the Integrated Reporting Council but its report does...

Well done to Brett and the team. Agree with Brett's comments that there is a long way to go yet. Once the dust settles, as members we should award Brett life time achievement for services to the profession (not sure of the exact title). We should also strip the life memberships from this bunch of ro...

Re: My letter to the Board re Malley termination

Well done to Jen and Sandra,

The Board should be personally held liable for the payment which is probably in excess of their authority and not compliant with the law.

When the time comes to appoint a new Board you will have my vote.

Agree. Everyone must go. There are enough good CPAs who can do a proper job. We must get back people like Tony Gleeson who stood up to the CEO and executive. Tony displayed the core value of being a CPA (Integrity) and was punished by the reps of our professional body for that !!! As a member of 25 ...

Agree with the comments here. $4.9m represents nearly 4 years base of $ 1.3 m. The Board should be held personally liable even if it is in accordance with an agreement. Who would come up with a termination payment in excess of 3 years in an agreement? what planet are they on? The Board and executive...

Re: CEO terminated effective today!

Hope there is someway to stop this payment or hold the Board accountable for the payment.

$4.9 million is nearly 4 years of the 1.3 million base pay.

As per the analysis done by Chris while back even the base is over two times the ACCA CEO's pay and she has achieved member growth.
