Merry Christmas to Peter Wilson. When it was suggested that Peter Wilson should be independent of the old board so that we can have a fresh start Peter responded with "That's your issue". Summary of the meeting here: viewtopic.php?f=23&t=594

Re: AFR 4 July 2017 - CPA Australia finds Angus Houston has a problem

Remember hearing Alex say more than once that he hates flying. I have a feeling now that it was just more smokescreen and BS to cover up the miles he was racking up. I mean, who needs to do a book launch in Florida when (a) we don't have a critical mass in the US , or even properly service our US me...

Re: Just recieved the 202B !!! So much money!

Serious issue for an organisation with such highly paid executives.. an assistant CFO ... two COOs !!! Some of this is starting to smell like "shut-up" money, or incentives to stay loyal to those who were benefitting most from the trough, or vote-buying. Call it what you like, but from what little ...

Re: Independent Review Update

I'm glad that Angus Houston recognised the implications. Poor form from CPA not to even mention this in the update. Agree. Frankly , I think Sir Angus' letter is quite reasonably supportive of our requests , and we shouldn't bag him for pulling out. I am sure quite a few of us have accepted a job s...

Re: Alex on 2GB today! having a good old laugh

Paid for by himself I hope. Lot of time spent on implicating the Board...... and Medcraft Yet Alex told me he came to the Board with a radical proposal to shake up the world view of accountants and get young people on board , and If he took the CEO role they would need to back his strategy. Now, th...

Re: Competitor accounting bodies target CPA members

Good post JW. Interesting perspective on public practice : I believe CPA has 7000 members affected by the public practice liability concerns - can anyone confirm? I've seen an Economia article saying approx 7000 in Victoria, but what is it nationally ? I'm not sure if public practitioners represent ...

Re: A Path For CPA Renewal - s249D Call for Members meeting and next steps

We all have been apathetic and disinterested but those who were in positions of any form of representative position (divisions, committees etc) should have been more aware than the rest of us. Their silence up until the last week or is very telling to me. I think the pro-Malley support cast runs pr...

Re: A Path For CPA Renewal - s249D Call for Members meeting and next steps

The use of the phrase Divisional Presidents could be interpreted to exclude Branch Presidents e.g. europe . Was that your intent ?

I don't know about Divisions these days, but in my Branch the Council is member-elected, then the President is elected by the Councillors.

Or the NSW RSL. Or Obeid and Macdonald could join the board once they get out of jail. Each and every example is a pisstake of using other people's money by elected representatives. We never learn, do we? My great grandfather was a member of NSW Parliament at Federation and would be rolling in his g...

Re: My letter to the Board re Malley termination

Here's mine : Dear Mr Dickson and Members of the Board, I suspect you are receiving some long and ranty letters in relation to recent events, so I will endeavour to keep this short. By way of background, I am a CPA of 18 years standing, with a career across the US, Asia Pacific, and Europe. I have l...

Re: With the sacking of Alex Malley, Australia’s biggest content marketing experiment has failed

It was always a waste. I'm not sure what it achieved. Perhaps a high number of student members. But once we find out the membership split between ASA and CPA we could make a more informed decision if it was working. I think it was not working anyway, membership growth is simply not that large and i...

Re: With the sacking of Alex Malley, Australia’s biggest content marketing experiment has failed

I have been in meetings with Malley where the concern was raised about all this marketing being wasted in the event he was hit by the proverbial bus. We were assured , more than once, that there is a contingency plan so that Naked etc carries on. Now we will see just how competent the Board and othe...

100% agree. Quitting a directorship or taking a termination cheque does not mean accountability is no longer required.

Re: CEO terminated effective today!

If the Board of CPA think this puts and end to their troubles, they are in for a rude shock. A lot of unanswered questions still to be dealt with. Current board must go, and ASIC must investigate - not just issues of governance, but remuneration and spending decisions as well.

Re: AFR 22 June 2017 - $1.1m later, former CPA volunteer jumps to Malley's defence

This whole CPA debacle is the gift that keeps on giving. I read Penny's letter in the press, which draws attention to the size of CPA and its global nature as justification of its CEO remuneration. Then I note her extensive previous background working in....Tasmania. Our smallest state. No prior int...

Re: AFR 22nd June - Matt Kean was right: Alex Malley loses CPA Australia's limited liability

Unbelievable.
Here's one prediction of the next slap in the face for members : Malley proposes to use CPA's surplus (OUR surplus) to cover members liability i.e. A self-insurance model. I will spit chips if that happens.
