Merry Christmas to Peter Wilson. When it was suggested that Peter Wilson should be independent of the old board so that we can have a fresh start Peter responded with "That's your issue". Summary of the meeting here: viewtopic.php?f=23&t=594

You reminded me of the Eddy Murphy movie, the Nutty Professor, where he indeed plays multiple characters. Though I don't think he can keep a straight face negotiating his own employment contract.

Re: Brett's Response to IRPanel Preliminary Report

We need to push on for that EGM. If we don't spill the board then I don't think anything will change. 2000 more signatures needed. Can we engage the help of the good guys at the AFR to place ads in the paper? Can we invest more money into the online advertising via facebook/linkedin etc? Can we ask...

Re: Interim Report and Posting Guide

Really disappointed at this stage. Key items I noted: Governance - No direct election of the board. No imposition of max terms, other than the RC "consider carefully". Nothing relating to conflicts of interest. Nothing about accountability and responsibility of the previous board. Imagine a recommen...

Re: Brett's Report on the Senate Hearing 5th Sept 2017

I can see the PR machine is still in full gear. This message is doing the rounds of the Victorian Government CPAs. For those who don't haven't followed or studied of how gerimandered/stacked the process really is, you could be fooled into think that it looks solid (not). *** Hi everyone, I hope that...

Re: CPA Australia - Sponsorship

Just found out from an email, CPA is still sponsoring the 2018 Australian Open. Probably too late to pull out as most likely there would have been a multi-year contracted signed committing the organisation. As part of the review of all sponsorships this information needs to be revealed. Very interes...

Members should form the Iron Bank. " One way or another, they always get their gold back." (ie Malley's $4.8M payout.)

Re: AFR 7 Aug 2017 - Inside story of Alex Malley's final days at CPA Australia

It is great that the rest of the board is standing down. My main concern is that they are still intimately involved in selecting their replacements. Again I the three external members selected to the nomination and remuneration committee were appointed by the board. Furthermore Dickson and Youngberr...

Re: Announcement from the Board of CPA Australia

The Board has changed the composition of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee to ensure all new Directors are appointed through a rigorous executive search process and by a majority-external panel. It will be Chaired by Director Tim Youngberry, and will include the Chair of the Board Jim Dicks...

Re: AFR 1 August 2017 - The naked CEO Alex Malley is now invisible

A pretty much only read the excel section. Power Pivots are all the rage. However, I've found that by creating a processing file which uses a pivot to summarise and then convert the pivot into a second table, I have a nicely formatted data set that removes the need to use power pivots. Link in a mac...

Re: AFR 24th July 2017 Directors 'Listening' Tour - a bit late Tim

Nothing more than a puppet director, installed when the board was in imminent risk of failure. His sole purpose to direct focus away from the failure of the rump of a board. He should urgently revise APES 110 Code of Ethics for Professional Accountants. Specifically: Fundamental Principles: 100.5 A ...

Re: AFR 20 July 2017 - Ian McPhee understands CPA member anger, outlines limit of panel report

One benchmark that I will be applying is $16.8K per month. This is what it cost for a chair and two panel members for a state government review. (Slight amendment, it actually was chair and two panel members.) There was a secretariat of a program director, two senior policy officers and admin office...

Re: AFR 20 July 2017 - Ian McPhee understands CPA member anger, outlines limit of panel report

Totally agree. As soon as I read: ...Mr McPhee would not directly comment on an ongoing push by 16 past CPA leaders to replace the remaining board but emphasised it was important for the CPA to have continuity of leadership. Any faint hope that something meaningful might come out of the review went ...

Here is the currently list of all Life members form the 2016 annual report.
You'll notice that Wade, Petty, Malley, Egan are there. Interestingly the
chair of the independant review Ian McPhee is also one.

Re: Plundering our fees for exec super, too

Just a slight clarification, the $35,000 would be a concessional contribution taxed at 15% (not tax free). It probably won't be too much a stretch of the imagination to have this scene play out: Remuneration Committee (Wade, Carlin, Dickson & Ryan): In the 2015/2016, by law we can only pay you a max...
