Merry Christmas to Peter Wilson. When it was suggested that Peter Wilson should be independent of the old board so that we can have a fresh start Peter responded with "That's your issue". Summary of the meeting here: viewtopic.php?f=23&t=594
A good summary of where we are up to by Joe Aston of the AFR, linked to from here: viewtopic.php?f=5&p=4137#p4137

CPA Leaders forum - 26-MAY-2017

Post by Nate1 » Fri May 26, 2017 4:54 pm

Hi All

I love how this year for the CPA emerging leaders forum we are promoting a successful CA member in Anna Lee as the iconic CFO

I personally have a huge problem with promoting CA members as emerging leaders of a CPA conference.

do we not have CPA members that are emerging leaders????
do we not have CPA members in high profile roles like "the iconic"????
Does this mean the CA is more successful, helping people obtain high profile roles????

it is absolutely disgusting, i have no personal issue with Anna Lee, however as a rival professional body it is just wrong on so many levels.

how are our members ever going to progress, if all the CFO roles are CA members, and we spend CPA funds to boost the career profile of a CA member.

it is sneaky to also not disclose this in the brochure to paying attendees which makes me think they knew it would cause issues to those that were aware of this fact.

shameful! absolutely shameful, just another opportunity by the CPA to align with a trendy organisation with young followers to boost student numbers.

blood boiling!

forward to Joe ashton at the AFR someone!

This makes me wonder if the board and executive are not merely corrupt but totally bloody incompetent as well ?

You're right. For the others they say CPA, FCPA but they didn't have the guts to put the CA post-nominal initials after Anna Lee

They just can't help themselves. It is discusting, and proves all of my points and the failures of this organisation and it's management

They don't care! They are just trying to win the popularity contest.

I think I might just give the speakers a heads up on what is happening at CPA Australia starting with The ABC report, Joe Astons columns, the parody and the link to the media on our website. Let's see what these leaders are made of eh.
Perhaps Paula Dwyers comments and Prof Stephen Taylor's article.
Yes I wonder if these leaders are concerned with excessive remuneration or corporate governance weaknesses such that members don't vote for directors. Perhaps their views on minimal disclosure, or branding and poor strategic decisions. Yes, I think they need to be forewarned.
I suggest other members should do the same. It's time to start getting real about this. Already preparing an info sheet/ booklet for the congresses and any other CPA organised event to hand out to participants and members.
Perhaps Anna Lee might like to share with her CA colleagues.

Don't forget to forward to Joe!!
I will be interested in the response from the leaders, I think they will defend the CEO , Anna is a mini celebrity in the making and I'm sure she wants to make friends like Alex
The members need to see the facts not the marketing messages

Good work Brett, it's a great idea

Of course, short of sexual harassment generally, most organisations support their leaders without question despite public opinion or mounting evidence.

Least with all of what is going on no-one can claim accountants don't have a sense of humour!!!
