Merry Christmas to Peter Wilson. When it was suggested that Peter Wilson should be independent of the old board so that we can have a fresh start Peter responded with "That's your issue". Summary of the meeting here: viewtopic.php?f=23&t=594
A good summary of where we are up to by Joe Aston of the AFR, linked to from here: viewtopic.php?f=5&p=4137#p4137

3 June 2017 - Alex Malley Attacks Iceland Website

Post by nakedadmin » Sat Jun 03, 2017 12:59 pm

Let's let Alex introduce the website: "...but when members set up a website registered in Iceland and don't even use their real names. I'm happy to pass the pub test to the people watching this program. Pick a team"

Watch the interview here: http://www.abc.net.au/news/programs/the ... he/8581596

I seems to upset him that he cannot get our names. I wonder why people are not using their names, he seems so friendly (sarcasm). Some people like Brett Stevenson and Chris Catto have done a great job speaking on behalf of us all, so I don't think everyone needs to speak publicly on it and we don't get $1.8m p.a. to do it either. This website has enabled the sharing of ideas and information in a very constructive way. Note if you make personal attacks you will be banned.

His answer to the second time he was asked about the 45,000 member increase was to talk surplus, Iceland, pseudonyms and "6 named members".

Did I make the shortlist of 6 ?

Who knows. Seems like they are monitoring things pretty closely. I'd be surprised if the really only have 6 names.

I would encourage members to come out and speak very openly about these matters.
I, and the other 1279 members on our mailing list, can attest to the considerable support that is growing within the membership to instigate change at CPA Australia.
It will not happen by fiat, we have to act and speak up.
We are all busy but sometimes it is worth making a bit of an effort to do the right thing.
Can I especially encourage those in leadership positions, be in corporate, academic, public practice, government, not for profit etc sectors to show some leadership on this matter and speak up. Now is not the time for us to leave it just to others. Or to be afraid of offending the CPA leadership.
To me, they are bullies, and as we teach our children, the way to stand up to bullies is to stand up to them.
These are big big issues and we do ourselves nor the profession no favours by just sitting idly by leaving it to others.

Hi Brett,

Alex Malley gets $1.8m a year to be a public figure. He's just taunting everyone to become a public figure as part of the intimidation.

I don't think we need everyone to be publicly involved, we just need a few good spokes people to represent us. I think that's been you and Chris as the main ones so far. But may be we should formalise this a bit so that you can Chris can say you represent over 1,200 members which you do.

They can get the names when they get the notice of EGM as far as I'm concerned that's early enough for them.

May be we need to add Mark as a spokesperson and a couple others. Put up a profile of each spokesperson and write up some explicit policies that the spokespeople can represent us on.

They already have over 100 names on the s202B. Alex says "about six". Quite frankly that was another lie.

I concur with Brett, but please also encourage involvement here and on the mail list with your colleagues, without identifying yourself if that is how you feel comfortable.

Note the CPAA privacy policy below, particularly in regard to Elysse Morgan's ABC interview.

CPAA CEO: “Most of the people on that website use PSEUDONYMS, not their real names. And so, if you think an organisation of this strength, of this success, is going to listen to people who won’t even use their names, I’m afraid we'll be happy to agree to disagree. This is a good news story."

You are free to communicate with your organisation without identifying yourself, where practicable.

Regards,
Mark.

Per https://www.cpaaustralia.com.au/utiliti ... acy-policy

[3.5. What if you don’t want to provide your personal information?

The CPA Australia Group’s policy is to provide individuals with the option of not identifying themselves, or of using a pseudonym, when dealing with us if it is lawful and practicable to do so. A PSEUDONYM is a name or other descriptor that is different to an individual’s actual name.

For example, the CPA Australia Group’s policy is to enable you to access our website and make general phone queries without having to identify yourself and to enable you to respond to our surveys anonymously.]

And now please read again the verbatim quote above.
