130 clicks in 3623 impressions is insanely high. I think a good ad normally gets 1 click per 1,000 impressions and the price it like that. So you can pay $1 per click or $1 per 1,000 impressions. If so then you may want to investigate paying per 1,000 impressions because it would cost 10 times less. Do they allow paying per 1,000 impressions?

Can you do a screenshot of the ad?

Based on my experience paying for highly targeted clicks, the cost is pretty reasonable (I pay up to $35 per click in some ads). I know we can also go for other options to get more views, but that is not necessarily going to generate more of the right clicks which we really need CPA member visits to the survey page.

The targeting on this is people who show interest specifically in "CPA Australia" and people located in Australia aged 25-65+which actually only gives about 28,000 Facebook users. If I expand this age group to worldwide it grows to 79,000 and then if I expand to start from age 16, the number jumps to 140,000. CPA Australia has about 111,000 likes, but I suspect many are students under 25. I have felt the key group of members for us is the over 25's. Because of this more specific targeting, my cost is higher.

For $100, Facebook will only show my ad to about 2,000 people. Getting a lot more clicks to the survey form would be nice, but only helps if they are CPA's that qualify to fill it in. That's why it is costing more than an ad that would be suited to anyone.

One thing I would ideally change is the FB page serving the ad. I won't promote my page here so I blanked it out. Done better, there should be a FB page for this group which serves the ad. I think then the performance would improve a bit too.

I was wondering what page you were posting from and had thought that a separate page for 'CPA Members' would probably be ideal.

Anyway... nice work. Do you work in social media marketing or just use it to promote your own page?

Hi everyone... WE HAVE PASSED 50%!!!!!! Actually as I type this we're at 3,116 signatories to the petition. Half way is a good start. There are some good suggestions here. Brett is going to make some of the fighting funds available to help spread the word with paid advertising. Will provide an update on that shortly... THANKS EVERYONE FOR YOUR EFFORTS!!!!!!! Jen :-)

Hi Jen,
Good news about passing 50% mark, and paid advertising is certainly a good use of the fighting fund.
Would it also be worth placing advertisements in major newspapers?
For all I know, the cost could be prohibitive but at least worth checking it out.
Regards,
Ken

To everyone that have shared and spread the spill motion so far, congratulation and well done.
We have passed the 50% marks and as Brett has pointed out, time is not in our favour for sure, we have at least until Mid to end of August to reach the 100% or even above. Thank you also to everyone that have come up with different tactics and strategies to push the spill motion number up. We are on the right track and together we can regain our association back.

Excellent to see we have passed the halfway mark and given we can't reach the full membership by email it is a great achievement.
We are running low on time but if we keep up spreading the message who knows.
The spill is the only the option ,as we can see the latest from MCphee the review will be a pathetic white wash that will achieve nothing a leave the status quo .
It is still depressing that the people who put CPA is such a bad light can't or won't recognise the gravity of what they have done. Also there are others IDK .. who fail to see the damage.
As new graduates emerge and make the choice for CA or CPA ??? ... it is certain the CAs will get the call .
The Brand is damaged and will only be rebuilt with a clean sweep.
The tragedy is that Dickson Wade and crew will wander off at some stage with a big pocket of CPA money and not give a second thought to the profession or the future of CPA.
I sincerley hope i never run into them anywhere in the future.

Have emailed Jen and requested to have ad management permissions on the FB page. If can get OK then I can get some ads rolling tonight.

Facebook Ads are going OK...

Image

Engagement is low cost but technically fewer clicks being registered.
Small cost right now anyway so I am seeing how they develop over a couple more days as the cost is falling daily.

As the numbers grow these can become more organic through people sharing, liking, etc.

Looks like it's going great. A very low cost per click, which seems to indicate it's a well designed ad. I guess it's just a case of managing the cost per click whilst trying to get the volumes up. Please contact Brett and Jen and get this funded properly. If we could pay $3,000 to get the message to 3,000 people and get the remaining needed votes that would be the best use of $3,000 I could imagine and looks like you are running at about half that at the moment. Keep it up.

It seems the spill motion is losing momentum and a circuit breaker is required. The Malley trained board will stare us out, will sit tight and outfund us. Then laugh all the way to the bank. The review will be a whitewash. CPA Australia has become a law unto itself. I have written to the Professional Standards Councils and the Tax Practitioners Board, with copies to Brett and the team, but to no avail. It is important to restore CPA Australia to its rightful position as a respected professional organisation, but I am pleased to now be retired.
