Merry Christmas to Peter Wilson. When it was suggested that Peter Wilson should be independent of the old board so that we can have a fresh start Peter responded with "That's your issue". Summary of the meeting here: viewtopic.php?f=23&t=594
A good summary of where we are up to by Joe Aston of the AFR, linked to from here: viewtopic.php?f=5&p=4137#p4137

Read Todays AFR - refer attached if you don’t have it.
It's time CPA Australia got its own house in order before threatening legal action against others.

Stop wasting our money on legal fees (we all can still remember the massive waste regarding the affair over the Institute in NZ. Was it $1.5 million?)

I was gobsmacked after reading today’s AFR.

I suggest to any member, if there are any threats of legal actions on these matters by any of the CPA staff or board, that they take careful notes of what has been said.
And if Alex Malley or Jeff Hughes or Graeme Wade are the ones speaking make sure you ask them what they received in remuneration in 2016 from CPA Australia.
Their silence and refusal to disclose that is the reason you should stop listening to them and walk away.
I regard the remuneration excess paid to the Key Management Personnel at CPA Australia as the litmus test of their integrity and credibility as leaders.

It's time the board stepped up to the mark and put it’s foot down on these matters.

Some questions/actions for the board (and I would suggest perhaps Petty, Carlin, Malley and possibly Wade and Ryan should not be involved)

We need to revise the 16 page memo, especially regarding the appointment of the Chief Executive.

We need to establish an independent inquiry into some of these matters (Excessive Remuneration, Marketing, CEO and branding, Corporate Governance etc).

We definitely need to immediately fully disclose the individual remuneration of Key Management Personnel in 2016 to regain some sort of credibility with the members.

We need to immediately stop wasting money on legal proceedings against the AFR. This could be embarrassing for us.

Who did the due diligence on Alex Malley when he was appointed CEO?

Did Richard Petty and Tyrone Carlin know about this in all their time on the CPA Australia board?

Did they mention this to anyone, and why not if they didn’t?

We need to immediately review CPA Australia Advice given the close involvement of the parties involved.

We need to immediately conduct a review into __________________________________________________(members add what you think needs investigating)

Can I encourage members to have a close read of Note 18 in the 2016 annual report and compare to Note 17 in the 2015 Annual Report.
Hint - look at the what they say CPA Australia contributed to CPA Australia Advice in 2015.
Mmmm. Clearly disclosed but is it wrong?

Almost finished the response to the 16 page memo. Later this week.

Cheers, or perhaps not so cheers

Brett
