Merry Christmas to Peter Wilson. When it was suggested that Peter Wilson should be independent of the old board so that we can have a fresh start Peter responded with "That's your issue". Summary of the meeting here: viewtopic.php?f=23&t=594
A good summary of where we are up to by Joe Aston of the AFR, linked to from here: viewtopic.php?f=5&p=4137#p4137

Notice of the 2018 Annual General meeting (AGM) and proxy

Post by JWheldon » Mon Apr 23, 2018 2:44 pm

Have members receive updates up Notice of 2018 annual general meeting (AGM)?

Believe that on 27 April 2018, the notice of 2018 AGM will be published with final resolutions and details of the process for members to vote in person or by proxy. Proxy votes to be completed and returned by 20 May 2018 and AGM held on 22 May 2018. Seem to have read that the AGM is supposed to be at Melbourne Convention Centre, but don't see anything to confirm.

They should hold it in Tristan da Cunha or Easter Island just for a laugh.

Remember be very careful about giving your proxy votes to the board of CPA Australia. They are using Linkmarket services to assist with the process.

It is better for as many members as possible to attend and ask questions. The board has never really answered the pre-sent or emailed questions at the AGM, so members would be wasting their time, if they email their questions. They basically don't have time to answer all the questions, emailed to them, and then don't attempt to answer questions, nor post the replies on their website. Therefore better for members to either post questions here on this site or get other members from your state, who you know will attend the AGM to ask questions.

Hopefully, Mr Wilson, won't waste time in the AGM to give a speech, and therefore let members have time to ask questions. The AGM must probably finish by about 7.00pm, so time will be limited.

This year you are being asked to vote on 14 resolutions that will determine CPA Australia’s future direction.

Your new Board is supporting four resolutions that will implement recommendations of the Independent Review Panel.

For the reasons set out in the Explanatory Memorandum, the Board does not support the other 10 resolutions.

Members can have their say by submitting their proxy by 5.30pm 20 May or by attending the AGM in person.

CPA Australia is working with an external registry service, Link Market Services, to independently manage the distribution of the Notice of Meeting, lodgement of proxies, voting at the AGM and scrutineering of votes.

More details are included in the Notice of Meeting and Explanatory Memorandum. Click here.
