Merry Christmas to Peter Wilson. When it was suggested that Peter Wilson should be independent of the old board so that we can have a fresh start Peter responded with "That's your issue". Summary of the meeting here: viewtopic.php?f=23&t=594

CPA Australia 2nd response to group emails 16th March 2017

Post by nakedadmin » Thu Mar 23, 2017 6:08 pm

According to the AFR article published here: http://www.afr.com/brand/rear-window/cp ... 322-gv3lg6

The below email and attachment were forwarded by Jeff Hughes to the divisional councillors with an email that read:

"Dear Team,
Can I please ask that you send the below to each of your councillor members as soon as you can along with the attachment. It is very important that we keep to the below protocol. I ask you to familiarise yourself with this document as we believe that it answers that mistruths out there in the market. For those of you who have been 'managing' members ... by all means send this document to them and any others who you consider friendlies but need some reassurance. Forward it wisely. For information we will be sending this to those members who [CPA president] Graeme [Wade] has made contact with after they had emailed or called. Happy to discuss anything with you if you require clarification. Thanks team – much appreciated. Jeff."

This memo from CPA purportedly justifying everything is woeful. They could have saved a lot of time and money and simply written: "Trust us." Nothing is validated. eg salaries per market. If there is nothing to hide - disclose it - disclose everything and make all the questions go away. Its a bit like the tax transparency project. All the arguments used to advance it, apply here.

As to strategy of attracting youth market - is that any youth? Should it be youth in the industry? If so, do you seriously think they are watching the show?

Hi Seeking Change,

Check this commented version. Also note that the letter actually states that it was prepared at the request of the board. As you can see from the comments the "Important member information" contains some very misleading statements. And this is prepared at the request of the board so it's basically the Directors providing at the least misleading information to members at worst it's lying to keep their highly paid jobs.

Also some of the comments in the letter are so bad. Do the directors actually think that using the Australian Open to attract new members from the Chinese youth market is of any benefit to the existing members? Having over 10% of the membership in China, is that going to help your next job application or make the phones in a suburban accounting practice run hot?
