Merry Christmas to Peter Wilson. When it was suggested that Peter Wilson should be independent of the old board so that we can have a fresh start Peter responded with "That's your issue". Summary of the meeting here: viewtopic.php?f=23&t=594

For the benefit of those not using LinkedIn could you provide some screenshots? Also, this may be a good idea before 'unfriendly' comments are deleted by the moderators.

Interesting, I've applied to get access, though you have to go through a vetting process by membership number as this particular forum is not open to public view. After reading through the attachment it seems like only two are vocal supporters. I really don't agree with one who advocates that those who have any concerns should simply leave CPA. One member has asked for the total number of voting members. Looking forward to see how that request goes.

Interesting that the CPA Australia Members Group is still been moderated.

While some negative comments are still posted, my comment referring to this website was just moderated.

I applied for access but am obviously blocked as its still pending over two weeks later. As Alex knows who I am perhaps this has something to do with it as he seemed to take exception to my review of his speech at CPA headquarters a few weeks ago.

I'll post something on LinkedIn asking why CPA members are not being provided access to the forum. If they are concerned about members commenting on Icelandic sites using pseudonyms then we need the ability to hold the discussions on "official" channels such as LinkedIn. I think the more these topics can be discussed out in the open without any fear of reputational (or legal) repercussions the better.

It has been made clear that "Off-topic and redundant comments (this includes promotion of events, groups, pages, Web sites, organisations and programs not related to or affiliated with CPA Australia)" as per the group rules will be moderated. At least CPA Australia has committed to informing us when something is moderated (which just triggers a whole new debate). I would however argue that cpamembers.org while not affiliated is definitely not off-topic or redundant.

It's pretty easy to find this site and many people mention the Icelandic site in the media and the news. Even googling Iceland and CPA brings cpamembers.org to the top of the search list. Furthermore, Brett has said that Nick Xenophon is introducing a private members bill to modernise Corporations Act to include e-mail addresses on the members register.

There are plenty of protections built in to ensure members contact details are used only for a valid purposes. In regards to privacy, I would much rather someone have my e-mail address then my home address.

Our constitution and by-laws require the register to include our designation (which determines our voting rights). The member register provided to Brett did not have this in contravention of the requirements of s 173(3) of the Corporations Act. I'm sure these questions are being put back to CPA Australia now as well as ASIC.
