Merry Christmas to Peter Wilson. When it was suggested that Peter Wilson should be independent of the old board so that we can have a fresh start Peter responded with "That's your issue". Summary of the meeting here: viewtopic.php?f=23&t=594

AGM issues - Will the life membership scheme be cancelled?

Post by JWheldon » Tue Jul 24, 2018 9:46 pm

The issues relating to the life membership was raised at the AGM, yet not response from the board of CPA Australia, as to whether this reward to the board members from the CPA Australia board will be done away with. This life membership program or gold card, reminds me of a similar program that Tony Abbott brought in for a short period of time.

The AGM was in May 2018, yet it is now July 2018, the board is yet to make a decision. So how long will it take to make this decision?

Its is the highest achievement given to the members, yet it is mainly given to the board and board members, so what does that say about this life membership program?

Below is taken from the CPA Australia 2018 AGM Questions on notice, which is attached for members reference, yet not response from the board. Maybe the board is looking for answers from its external legal consultants, from it external focus groups, and one of the four big chartered accounting firms, who will get one of it highly qualified ICAANZ members to write a report.

Maybe the board needs many many months to request for submissions from members, start a web page, and engage Ian McPhee to undertake an extensive review into the whole life membership program and then report back to the board of CPA Australia with the result to make the decision for the board to make?

If these type of decisions are so so hard for the board to make, then why pay them?

"Why are Alex Malley and other former directors still life members of CPA Australia?
The Board is aware of concerns voiced at the AGM and in other forums with members. The Board will consider the matter."

It may appear based upon the PWC report into CPA Australia Advice, that the board may well need to use external advisers to determine what to do next.

Aren't the staff at CPA Australia qualified enough to make a decision??

This is where the membership funds are all going, straight to the external consultants.

Maybe another $600,000 to PWC to help them decide whether the life memberships should go????
